Say What??

You know those things your kids say that you wish you would have written them all down for them for later in life. Then you still don't even though loved ones suggest you do multiple times (mom, Jess). So here is one that was told to me by Jerrud saturday :)
He was told to get something off the dining room table. Take note, we only have one dining room table and it's not that big! When asked about it in the car a little later, he said he forgot. Of course he had been told multiple times!! He was asked why he didn't get it the first time he was told. You parents know how these conversations go :) To which his response was:

"You know me, I forget a lot. Besides, sometimes when I am looking for something, my eyes delete it and I don't see it. You need to be more specific next time and not just say 'On the dining room table'!"

So then you sit there not knowing whether to laugh or get after him for coming up with excuses!

Curious George

Dustin asked me to make a cake for his "friend" at school. She loves Curious George! He only wanted it big enough for her. So, I carved out a 7" monkey and turned it into Curious George. I'm surprised he actually looked like him in the end :) Then the fun was trying to figure out how to get it to school on a high school bus and it was possibly going to be raining...hmmm...I had to get creative! A little acetate and tape and viola! check out all my cakes at http://susanscakestudio.com

I Love My Family!

Even after 11 yrs of fun, chaos, trials, ups and downs and in through it all there has still been love. I am so lucky to have Ray as a husband!

I love Ray because...
1. I can be myself around him.
2. I love how I feel when I'm wrapped up in his arms
3. I've always had a thing for his green eyes :)
4. Just thinking of him makes me smile
5. His love makes me feel like the best is still ahead
6. I love to hear his voice everyday
7. He has a quirky sense of humor that goes well with mine
8. Those little things he does that always reminds me of how
much he loves me
9. How he always kisses and hugs me whenever we have to go opposite directions
10. His intelligence. Afterall, he was smart enough to fall in love with me ;)

It hasn't just been us in these 11 yrs. Our family was bursting at the seams just a few years into our marriage. 13 months in the marriage came baby #1, Jerrud. Wasting no time, 13 months later came baby #2, Corbin. Just 2 days after our 4th anniversary was the official adoption of our 3 oldest blessings, David, Dustin & Tommy.
I love our boys...
1. because of the look on their faces when they learn something new or make a new discovery
2. because with their differences and how they don't let it get them down
3. because they are so smart and it makes me believe they can accomplish anything in life
4. when they still have those moments like they use to when they were younger, before they hated each other, when one helps another
5. and their love and knowledge of the gospel
6. because every once in a while I hear them use the manners they were taught
and it gives me hope
7. and seeing how they all love to help others whether they need help or not ;)
8. because of the times they are the ones that bring a smile to my face on a bad day
9. and their all their creativity (building, writting, drawing, playing)
10. because if we ever lost even one, I know our family would never be complete again!
I love my parents for raising me to become the person I am today.
I love Ray's parents for raising him to be the man he is today.
I can only hope I do as good as of a job with my own children!
Ray completes me.
Our boys complete us.
As a family we can conquer anything!

I love you Ray!
I love you David!
I love you Dustin!
I love you Tommy!
love you Jerrud!
I love you Corbin!

Pinewood Derby

So I'm about 2 weeks late getting this one up. Sorry! Jerrud and Corbin had their pinewood derby for cub scouts. For those of you who don't know what it is, they make their own wooden race cars. You buy a kit with a block of wood and a set of wheels and axles. They cut the block however they want to as long as it somehwere for the wheels to be placed. In our case, they drew pictures of the design and mom cut it out on the band saw. So then they sand and paint and decorate however they want. The only big rule is it cannot weigh more than 5 oz. So here are Jerrud and Corbin's creations.

Jerrud was inspired by a truck design he saw that his cousin William had done in the past. Corbin wanted a rocket ship...sorta :) He has wings on the bottom sides and a jet engine in the back. All his own creation. Actually his was much more detailed but I only had so much wood to work with!

So they go up against other scouts. They have a really long track with 2 sides. they use double elimination to figure out who races who. In the beginning they pair up with weight.

So in the end everyone gets a participation trophy. Then they give bigger trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Corbin is very proud of his participation trophy :) Jerrud is very, very proud of his 3rd place trophy :) He has never placed before. It's a lot of fun and it's done every year. We are looking forward to next years!

PUPPIES!!

February 3rd: The puppies have finally arrived! Precious and pups are all doing well :) The first one was born somewhere between 9a.m. and 11:30a.m. Number 8 was born at 6:30p.m. Sadly the last one was stillborn :(
We got a lot of color combination's going on too! It's kind of hard to tell in the pics I have so far though. In order of birth: We have a black with white chest and paws. Then an all black. #3 was tan with white markings. Next was a really light tan, almost white, with slightly lighter markings. The 5th one is a golden tan like her mom. Then we got another really light, almost white one. The really light ones are hard to tell apart without them together. #7 is our mini rotti. It's black with a brown muzzle, brown above it's eyes and on it's leg's.
In a few days I will try and get better close up pics of them so the colors can be seen more. So the new puppy thing is exciting for never seeing or doing it before. A little nerve racking! Number 5, or "Cinco" as some are refering to it, we didn't hink was going to make it. It came out breech and struggling to breathe. The cord was bleeding a lot so there was quite a bit of blood loss for such a little thing. We tied that off, suctioned and tipped up and down to help clear the fluid. Mom was here and she massaged it's little chest to keep stimulating it. Gave it mouth to mouth even. Corbin insisted on helping wipe the fluid away as it came out. Dad even gave it a blessing :) All of the kids were watching along with us. After quite some time we finally heard a little squeak out of it. It started breathing better on it's own and making more noise and movement. It was great to hear! We had fed it some formula and by the end of the evening, it was nursing on it's own. Yeah!! So of course everyone (meaning kids) want to keep "Lucky". Hmmmm......

So we are looking for homes for them...HINT! HINT! The mother is a comfort retriever and the father appears to be some chihuaha/terrier mix. Here are the pics we have for now and I'm sure more will come soon :)
