Sharing the Gospel

As I sit here I am listening to Tommy on the phone with his friend. They start by talking about school and all then teen stuff. Then out of the blue heasked his friend "Do you believe in God?" I'm thinking 'Oh no!'. For those of you who know Tommy, you know why :) Next thing you know for the past 10 minutes and still going he is sharing all of the things we believe in. He's telling him about the gospel. Explaining the Holy Ghost to him. Talking to him about how he prays to our Heavenly Father and how he should try praying when he is having hard times. He's telling him how we have the Book of Mormon that we read along with the Bible. He's reading the Articles of Faith to him and explaining them. He's telling him about our prophets and how Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon.
Now, this is not a new thing for him. He shares the gospel with whoever will listen. It makes me sit and think about how hard it is for some of us to share the gospel. I even struggled whether or not to post this little blurb. It amazes me to this day as many times as I have heard him talk about the gospel with others. He is one of our Heavenly Fathers special spirit children. He is a small child inside a teenagers body. He knows that he is different and does not let it get him down. I am amazed how with everyday things that the information isn't retained well. But you put the scriptures in front of him and he reads them with little struggle. He soaks up the information like a sponge and retains it to share later. By the way, it's been 40+ minutes since the conversation with his friend started! What a great example our children can be to us. Maybe we should listen a little closer to them and follow their example more often!

I love Tommy!! What a great example. The scriptures mention being like a child several times, being "patient, full of love, willing to submit to the Father." There is a lot we can learn from the little ones we are around everyday. Tell Tommy to keep it up and that we miss him.
